About Diana Price
My Story
I was diagnosed with celiac disease over 50 years ago. I have also been a registered dietitian nutritionist for more than 30 years. Despite a lifelong commitment to a gluten-free diet, I have had my share of health issues.
In my late 20s, I developed chronic appendicitis and was misdiagnosed for months. Long story short, I finally had my appendix removed but took various antibiotic cocktails for another 6 months.
This is when my health really started to decline. In my 40s, I was so desperate I began working with several functional medicine practitioners with little or no improvement. I finally took matters into my hands and enrolled in a master’s program focusing on nutrition and functional medicine. I am proud to say that I am healthier today than I was in my 30s!
You probably know that digestive issues run in families, so I was proactive with my kids when it came to celiac and had them screened regularly with an antibody blood test. None of my kids have developed celiac. But my daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2022, which is another digestive autoimmune disease. Her experience inspired me to pick up another certification – I am now a Certified Gastrointestinal Nutritionist.
Take home – When you have a condition that compromises digestion you are predisposed or susceptible to additional conditions like IBS, SIBO, eczema, additional autoimmune diseases, and inflammation. When you don’t properly digest the food you’ve eaten, the opportunistic bacteria thrive creating the perfect storm for dysbiosis and leaky gut. Ready to regain control of your health by addressing gut issues and inflammation?
